The number of the foreign-born population is very high in many countries, so the issue of social integration is a major concern. Societies and countries, which fail to integrate their people will not be able to advance. As a result, integration research is a very relevant subfield of the social sciences.

However, like other social concepts, such as for example trust, integration is not easy to measure, and so far there has not yet been developed a widely-accepted benchmark. Still, we need answers to the following questions:

Do foreigners face barriers when they try to access social activities in a country? Is the origin of your name enough to feel discriminated?

The presentation targets a diverse audience and aims to explain a research method (field experiment) in an unsual setting (amateur soccer in Europe) in an entertaining and informal way.
