The American Dream has taken on several different iterations with the most common one being looked at begins in the 1960s with the rise of nostalgic advertising and commercialism. There is a focus on upwards mobility and having the idea of the nuclear family. These ideals are still ingrained in our society despite the fact that this rarely, if ever happens. Yet we still focus on those who have fit into this idea and hold onto a dream that hasn't been possible since the ca1920s.
