Joshua Price
I am an associate professor in Economics in the Leavitt School of Business at Southern Utah University.
I am the Director of the Health Education Action Lab (https://www.heallabs.org/) whose mission is to find data-driven solutions to problems society faces at the intersection of health, education and labor economics. We are focused on a student-centered model where undergraduate students receive the training and mentorship to conduct research.
My research focuses on the application of behavioral economic tools. I firmly believe that the choice architecture design can be a powerful tool to overcome cognitive hurdles and improve outcomes. I have seen this in my research in settings in health, education, and sports.
I am also very passionate about my teaching. My teaching philosophy is the challenge students academically while providing needed coaching and mentorship to succeed. My quantitative focus has led me to write a textbook called Quantitative Methods. I have also begun to teach a General Education history course. I have been enthralled with this topic and wrote a book focusing on the economic history of the United States.
I have consulted several law firms as a litigation consultant. My expertise is on economics losses.
One of the most important lessons I teach students is to learn from failure. I attempt to show them this first hand through my participation in intramural sports.
