I was born near NYC but mostly grew up in Las Vegas. I'm an INFJ on the Briggs-Meyers scale, which means I never quite feel like I fit in anywhere; but as I've gotten older, I care less about this than I used to, since I live mostly in my head anyway. It also means I can empathize with almost anyone, though.

I got my BA in English at SUU with minors in theatre and music. I have an MA in English with emphases in composition, utopian/dystopian literature, and Early Modern Literature (mostly Shakespeare). Most of my own research these days is in game studies- video games; I've been a gamer since Atari and the Commodore 64.

I teach English 1010 and 2010 mostly. The themes of the 2010 classes I've taught are: Writing About Video Games, Writing About Big Brother, Writing About Conspiracy Theories, Writing about Art. I also teach study abroad during Maymester in London. In 2020 I'll be teaching during Maymester in New Zealand.

I love learning new things and am currently taking classes toward a BFA in Illustration at SUU; see art here. I have a grown daughter and two dogs, love home improvement projects, and believe sushi rolls should be its own food group.

My favorite books are numerous, but Ender's Game and Possession come to mind first. My favorite Shakespeare plays are The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet. My favorite sonnet is 116. My favorite movies are Gattaga and Moonstruck. My favorite TV show is Doctor Who. My favorite video games are the MYST, Portal, and Bioshock series.
